The minute I read this book when I was babysitting some friend's kids, I knew I had to buy it for my own library. I thought about letting my students use it at school, but I decided to keep it for my own personal library, because young kids are not exactly known to be gentle with books, especially with interactive ones like this one. As soon as the book arrived, I had so much fun opening up all the letters to characters such as Cinderella or Goldilocks. I love this book so much, the interactive nature of it is so incredibly fun, and I know I would have loved it so much as a child. I can't wait to share it with my future children and I know they'll love it as much as I do. It's also great for teachers to teach letter writing and how the postal service works, or as a mentor text for a unit on letters/postcards and writing. Easily 5 stars, I would give it more if I could. I also recommend the Christmas version too!

Jolly Postman or Other People's Letters is a very clever book and a hit with young children.
The story follows the daily route of a postman delivering his mail. But the recipients are most unusual, such as Goldilocks, Cinderella and more. You also get to open their mail which makes it most interactive and fun and quite unique.
My only complaint that over time the letters may get a little fragile and tear or even lost, so take care around over eager little hands. This book is excellent value and nicely illustrated and will soon be read many times over.
Janet and Allan Ahlberg created some of the world's most popular picture books, including EACH PEACH PEAR PLUM and THE JOLLY CHRISTMAS POSTMAN, both winners of the Greenaway Medal, and THE BABY'S CATALOGUE, inspired by their daughter Jessica. Janet died in 1994 and Allan, a former teacher, now lives in London.
