Description - Lady Chatterley's Lover by D. H. Lawrence

D. H. Lawrence's Lady Chatterley's Lover scandalized the world when it was first published in paperback, and helped put Penguin Books on trial. The powerful depiction of the sexual liaison of Constance Chatterley with the gamekeeper Mellors, while her invalid husband quietly seethes, brilliantly captures the perennial struggle between the classes and the sexes.

Author Biography - D. H. Lawrence

D.H. Lawrence was born in 1885 in Nottingham, into a miner's family. He trained as a teacher, but had his first book, THE WHITE PEACOCK, published in 1908 after the death of his beloved mother. Illness forced him to give up teaching, and he travelled round Europe with his German wife Frieda. He died in France in 1930, but was amazingly prolific. His novels include SONS AND LOVERS, THE RAINBOW, and WOMEN IN LOVE, and many more short stories, poems, plays, and essays.
